The new station was built alongside (northwest of) the old station, which was then demolished and replaced by the southeast half of the present station, completed in 1937. Take the train to Newark Liberty Airport Train Station (you can easily get there by the AirTrain from any of the airport terminals), then transfer to a New Jersey Transit Service train towards Penn Station in NYC (it is the last stop, don’t get confused and get out at Penn Station in Newark). Since AirTrain Newark provides easy connections to and from NJ TRANSIT, PATH and Amtrak through one gateway: Newark Liberty Airport Station, it is quite easy to get to Manhattan from EWR.
